I got my long tube headers installed by a shop that has never installed headers on a 5th gen V6 for about $200. I'm pretty sure my cost was on the low side of the spectrum for shops installing headers on a v6.

Thanks for the input. Not much competetion. I found one other shop but drove past it & did not like the looks of the set-up at all. I know looks can be decieving, but looked pretty bad. They also never responded to the voice message I left. Not sure I would even want to drive my Camaro into the alley to go through the shop garage door.

I think that's a fair price for those installs and the tune. You aren't getting anything major done, and it's all direct bolt ons. no fab work. A guy can do those installs in his garage, with no problems.

Tbh.. I hope they get it out this month so shops have at least some time before camaro5 fest. I would like all v6s to at least get time for real proper tuning. Especially me. I need to fix this timing that keeps being pulled ramdomly. Especially during heat soaking

If you want to price haggle, most of them will typically move on to booking the next guy that pays what the work costs. The last assumption ("If they've used HP Tuner, they should be familiar with most of it ") is the biggest one, and it got a lot of "tooners" into trouble early on with things like the 2.2 ecotec turbo Cobalts that are DI but mistakenly fueled like a traditional method of injection. Think of HPTuner's like CAD... just because you draw boxes or an object all day with it doesn't mean that you can just spit out drawings for a coke machine or whatever on command. HPtuner's is a calibration editor. It doesn't do any tuning. That part is 100% up to the guy behind the keyboard. Just some food for thought here. Best of luck guys. |
