The Top Ten Records at Big Willow

The Top Ten. Funny, I don't see the GT350R in the top 10, do you MF?

Mustang Fanboy.. Mustang guys keep saying the GT350 has a broader powerband.. Care to explain what that means to you?

The GT350R produces nearly the same amount of peak torque from 3500RPM to 8200 RPM. If you watch the motortrend video, you'll see the GT350R was able to shift less and extend out to higher RPM. Likewise, there is a 3000RPM spread between peak horsepower and torque.

That's cool, but the ZL1 makes more TQ at the wheels than even the Shelby's HP at the crank. Plus it makes it's tq almost instantly. I think it's around 2500 RPMs.

Around town, it's fantastic, but torque at 2500 RPM doesn't do you any good at the track.

Again, go back and watch the motortrend video to understand the advantage of having as broad of a power-band as the GT350. More shifts detracts from a vehicles performance.

Do you think the ZL1 is scooting around the track at 2500 RPM? Really?

RPM doesn't matter. You're saying GT350 has longer gears?

I'm saying the GT350 is able to hold RPM longer because of it's broader (usable) powerband. Where the ZL1 is shifting twice, the GT350 is often shifting once (this is not due to speed, it's seen going into and out of the turns). Gearing plays a role, but when you have a broader powerband...shifting less is where the advantage lies.

You're kidding me right? You really do think the Zl1 is running around the track at 2500 RPM?

And you really do think the GT350R is running around the track at 8000 RPMs. One thing I notice about you Mustang guys is you constantly exaggerate and twist words into something else. Either that or you just have terrible comprehension.

I checked MT's figure 8 and the ZL1 did it in 23.10 seconds while the Shelby took 24.20 seconds.

I've got new for you, the ZL1 spent exactly 0 seconds at 2500 RPM in the motortrend head to head. Were talking about the race track here, remember?

I'll make sure to not get into a figure 8 race with either one of those figure 8 terrors.

I don't remember seeing any tach numbers in the head to head, and really didn't see any rpm advantage. The R stayed in a lower gear so to keep revs up, and the zl1 stayed in a higher gear because it had the torque to keep it going. Just different ways to use the power your given. Just need to know how to drive them.
