Bingo. I mentioned this in another thread in this forum somewhere.

Agreed!

The truth is , if your gonna mod the hell out of a cruseier that's just ridiculous . If you already have a variety of cars to ride and still want a bad azz camaro with cam , headers , coilovers , nitrous , ls7 . Should I go on.........

I think i'm starting to see gm's thinking in the camaro lineup. They are trying to make it similar to the corvettes. SS = base model / z28 = z06 / zl1 = zr1. If a heavier supercharged zr1 can beat the lighter "track" car z06 I have a feeling the zl1 could too. I wouldn't be surprized if the ls9 makes its way into the zl1 for 2015. With the z28 they have already done all of the work setting the camaro up for dry sump engines. This would give the z28 a year to be the flashy new model and pick up sales. In 2015 the zl1 could regain it's title of the top tog as the 5th gen rides into the sunset. It would also be the last time that the ls9 engine would be used as it is being retired.

After seeing the reveal on the 2014 Camaros I could not be happier that I got a 2013 ZL1. The new Camaro is UGLY, and the Z28 is not a daily driver.

yeah in some way people who bought ZL1's for track kind of get stiffed but the fact it will be more money off sets that to me.

bit more power and those ceramic brakes and the lap times would be right on point. Those brakes are awesome.

the fact this car will be more money than the ZL1 and looks worse to has me with no buyers remorse.

want those brakes and the wheel package. that is like 60lbs of unsprug wieght. that is huge.

Who got stiffed? Everyone who bought a ZL1 knew what they were buying. Anyone who thinks the current models will always be the fastest is delusional.

The power to weight ratio and better gears of the Z/28 will kill the ZL1 in every aspect except creature comfort. 300-lbs pounds lighter (a portion of that in lighter wheels) and really not much less hp is too big of an advantage to overcome imo.

Besides; isn't the barely legal ZL1 supposed to the ultimate track Camaro? At least that's how GM how advertised the car. Looking back; clearly the ZL1 was a 2 MY stop gap to the Z/28. My frustration is GM knew this and put the ZL1 out underpowered and overweight knowing the Z/28 would soon follow it. They should have put the LS9, Recaro's, CAI and at least made a honest attempt at weight reduction for the ZL1 to begin with. Sorry, I'm not trying to start a flame war here; just frustrated.

But you bought the ZL1 knowing its power and weight, and I assume were pleased with it. I believe this is what got us the ZL1 and now Z/28...continuous improvement.

Daily driver and track vs track car. The ZL1 works fine for real world.
