Why is an extension even needed for this? I don't have the device yet but trying to understand why you would need this. Doesn't it just plug into the port and all the readings come up on the d.i.c. ,nav and hud? So what's the benefit of the cable?

You dont need an extension.
Is it back in run mode? If you left it in config it won't start up.

its in run mode (profile1) it boot up only when the car is running and I unplug it and plug it back in again. Any ideas are welcomed. I have reset the dic 10a fuse already. I don't want the device if I cannot use it with an extension.

Do you have the DIC set to Nav Mode? Are you using an extension when you unplug & replug it?

The cable allows you to move it out of the way instead of being connected directly and getting kicked every time you move in and out of the vehicle. With the cable, I am able to move it under the dash out of the way.

Is the dash logic pretty self explanatory? Easy to use?

lol... I think that is like asking if an I phone is easy to use..... some say yes and some say no. Depends on how tech savy you are and how much you want to play with it. I will say, that for what it can do, there is nothing else of a similar price range that can even touch it. It can read virtually anything available on that obd port if you play with it enough to figure it out and set it up. It cost a lot less money than all the other electronic crap I have plugged into my car including the aeroforce gauges....lol.

Plug and play, super simple. Never hit it with my legs, ever. Same with all 10+ people I know with them. I think people are assuming it will be in the way and run an extension to move it when it isn't an issue.

Like others have already stated, make sure and put the DIC in the navigation screen mode using the menu button on the turn signal stalk and be sure the dash logic is not in configuration mode. Whenever I have a freezing issue I just toggle the switch on the dash logic and it goes back to working. I have on a few occasions accidentally kicked it loose while shifting but I do have the extension cable that will be put to use soon.

I have the Dic set to nav, I have reset the 10a fuse, I use an extension and I believe its the same one camguy linked. Mine is running 1.18 and it will not initialize (boot) up when the car starts up. I have to unplug and plug it after the car has been started.

Try it without the extension. If it works then you know it's the extension. If it doesn't work then maybe you got a bad unit and you need to get in touch with Palmer. Also, when you pulled the fuse did you have the unit out ?

when I pulled the fuse I had the unit unplugged, I waited 20 sec, I plugged the fuse in then the unit.
when I pulled the fuse I had the unit unplugged, I waited 20 sec, I plugged the unit in then the fuse. neither order worked. I will try it today without the extension. |
