I would think a V8 LS then have ala carte would be a popular option.

I don't see much content they could remove from the SS to make it cheaper.... I think the lights need to remain the same. I don't want to see SS's rolling around with the cheap projector headlight housing.
What I could see done is to take the staggered summer wheel off along with the 8" infotainment screen along with the brembo's and make that into an RS package and maybe give it the 18" LT wheels and brakes and all season tires as standard equipment. |

Curiously wondering if a 375hp 5.3 matched to a 8/10 speed auto would net higher mpg? While that is not the sole focus of a sports car. Some buyers may factor it in as well as aiding GM in meeting CAFE standards. Possibly lower insurance costs? But more than likely splitting hairs at this stage with that line of thinking. |

http://www.chevrolet.com/byo-vc/clie.../camaro/config 2018 1LS...........$26,900 2018 1LS w/V6...$28,395 2018 1LS w/V8...$30,000-$32,000....???? 2018 1SS...........$37,995 I would think there is plenty of wiggle room in between the 1SS (38K) and the 1LS (27K) for a much less expensive V8 option other than the 1SS. The V-6 1LE is $32,895..., a $4,500 1LE option, which is basically an SS with V6....It takes another 5K to go to the 1SS price.... Leave it an LS, non 1LE, add 5K for the V8, and you're at $32K for a V-8 LS.. Last edited by 90503; 08-13-2017 at 09:13 PM. |

I would bet that the 5.3 doesn't cost more than the 3.6. Call it "327 LS". It's close enough to 327 cubes, the ls7 was actually a 428.

The reason GM made the RS package standard on the 1SS is because the take rate of the RS package on the 5th gen 1 and 2SS was over 80%. That translates into more expensive production costs and lower assembly line efficiency to build those 20% without it. It's a good idea in theory but I don't think that's going to be what GM would cut. Too many people want the RS package on Camaro SSs to make it an option. |

I had a devil of a time finding a stripper 1SS. I did NOT want a sunroof ,as it cut into my available headroom and I'm 6'-3". Add in nearly a grand to the MSRP too.
Same with the stupid NAV option....$500 for something I will never use. EVERY car I found in Montana was overloaded with options I did not want. $55K cars on a few lots. I wish I could have spec'd leather seats, without the 2SS package. I think ANYTHING allowing one to option out a car as the BUYER wishes will help. |

Maybe now people will stop b****ing and moaning about the price. Oh wait... Now, they'll complain that it doesn't have X or Y thing standard. Good move on GM though, more options for customer to purchase a vehicle. While customers always want things, in reality it might not be the case, hopefully it won't be the case for a more stripped v8. Like 5th gen z28s. Great car and all but if you can still find brand spanking new Z28s, it didn't sell like people claim it did :P.
No, the SS trims come with 4 pistons. SS/ZL1 1LE's come with 6 piston standard. |

Guys...just drop the 5.3 talk. Not going to happen. This is about reducing content that is already on the car. Don't expect anything new. (except for a facelift and likely a 10 speed auto for 2019)
Many people seem to be forgetting the fact that offering packages saves money. So giving us more individual options is likely not happening either...except that going forward...a 1SS may have some package that includes the things currently standard on a 1SS. Here's what will likely be done: - RS package no longer standard. Use the same headlamps/taillamps, that come on a standard LT model. LED daytime lamps will remain. Use 19" wheels and cheaper all-season tires. - 8" drivers screen and 8" touch screen no longer standard in the 1SS. Use base LT stuff. I think the above could pull around a grand to $1,500 off the base 1SS price or more Other stuff, but less likely: - SS sized Brembos not standard. But I just don't see that happening. The Camaro SS has big power. It needs those brakes. - Not really sure what else....

While I see a benefit from offering a more stripped base SS model, I agree with you. The 1SS config is near perfect for me. But if I could have ordered premium audio I would have. That annoys me. You can on the 1LT, but not the 1SS....what gives? (at least on the 5th gen it was that way)

Blind Spot Monitor, A Safety Item, Should Be Standard
...on a car with such lousy visability. I bought a 1LT. To get this feature that should be standard, it would cost an additional $8,000! Where is the value??
