So based on the G8's pricing, I don't worry about pricing much anymore. Really, there isn't one thing specifically that would be a deal breaker. For my next car, I will most likely either get a Camaro, G8, or the Pontiac Alpha-based car. Once all of them are out and I'm ready to buy my next car, it will come down to whichever one has the best combination of performance, price, fuel-economy, compact exterior, cargo and passenger space, features, and interior quality and design.

I want a top of the line model with top of line V8 (LS3 or whatever direct injection monster might come out)
If they change things too much or mess anything up I'll buy a 2002 Black Trans am or Corvette. Yeah. having a good engine is pretty much the deal breaker for me getting my bumblebee!

Deal breaker?
I guess if the hi-po version of the Camaro is higher priced than the HEMI Challenger, I'd be changing my mind. As much as I want the Camaro in my garage, its purchase is strictly a business move. I will be modifying the crap out of it to make money! The people I know personally at GMPP told me I'll be in line to get an early production one in order to manufacture some performance parts but, if I get the runaround, I know I can get a HEMI Challenger pretty easily through one of my customers. Guess I'm still stinging and bitter from the "gouging" I took from the dealer/Chevrolet on the 454 SS pickup I bought back in 1990 as well as the BS dealer premium Tasca Ford tacked on to the Shelby GT500. May they all rot in hell! Ed

1) if the V8 manual cost is over 35k
2) if it handles like a G.I. on a Soju binge 3) if it has less than a LS3 400+hp ( no 5.3 crap )

The only reasons I would not buy this car would be...
if the price is over 31k'ish for V8 version...... terrible looking/functioning interior..... if they offered it only in automatic like the challenger, I want a manual transmission!!!

The thing that would break the deal for me is the feedback-free steering in a lot of the newer GM cars. That drives me nuts, and that would break the deal for me.
Price is another one, and of course if I just don't like it, but I don't foresee that happening. :-) |

Stop tripp'n about the price fellas, hasn't Scott himself said numerous times that this car will be priced to be "very affordable"??? Not only that, but I also believe Lutz officially said that this car will be price-matched against the Mustang.

Well I don't think the price will be much of a surprise, but even if it is priced comparable to the Mustang, it might still be a stretch for me, because there are the issues of rent in Southern California, student loans, entry-level pay, insurance for a young male, etc. I don't want to get a bare bones version. I intend to keep it for a long time, so I want it to be pretty well equipped. And I also want the V8 version, because it just seems wrong to not have a V8 Camaro. If I have to go cheaper, it will probably be the upcoming Alpha sedan, and in that case it doesn't seem as important to have a V8. So really it isn't the price of the Camaro so much as my personal finances working out. Well that's why I'm waiting a couple years, to make sure I can get the car that I really want and afford it comfortably and responsibly.

^Smart move. I'm on somewhat of the same plan unless the parentals hook me up (doubt it). If things go to plan I'll be buying my 5thgen right before my 28th birthday. Another 5.5 years. Got something to look forward too, big time.

My biggest deal breaker would be price also. From what the latest pics we've all seen, GM was true to their word that the car would mirror the concept (with minor adjustments, mirrors, wheel size), so I got no prob there. I just need to see the inside and under the hood (V-8).

My big problem is money. I like the style, but I'm going to have to go with insurance costs. As a 24yo or younger driver (when I get it), I will likely settle for the V6 unless I find that I'm going to get shafted by insurance company after insurance company. It won't stop me from getting one, but it will make me wait much longer for a V8 so I can pay in cash.
