The Mustang is also getting this transmission. As far as I know, only the software/calibration is different.

yeah...the 2018 Mustang already has the 10 speed. The current Camaro A8 and Mustang A10 are basically even in the 1/4 mile, with advantage to the Camaro if you ask me (due to weight and TQ). Camaro having better launching and low end TQ, while the Mustang seems to have a very slightly better top end. I think the 10 speed in the Camaro will give it just a hair better advantage still. Still a drivers race for the most part.

I'm holding out for the A16. If some is good, more is better.

Let’s remember that GM and Ford both worked together to develop the A10 in the current Mustang GT. So it was going to happen sooner than later for Camaro.

Its been in the ZL1 for a year already. The wait is for it to be in the SS and or the complete line of Camaro's.

Ya know, when the A8 is working well, I love it. I think its awesome. Its smart, and quick and under WOT its blast. But there is no doubt it (across all platforms its used in) is plagued with TC issues. I've experienced the shudder once myself. It was quite un-nerving and un-mistakable once you are aware of it.

So far, the A10 seems to be good, but it hasn't been used nearly as widely yet as the A8.

I wonder what it will do for performance? I'm going to guess maybe a tenth for 60 and one or two tenths in the 1/4 mile. The Camaro weight and TQ advantage should be just enough to keep it ahead of the refreshed Mustang and its top end power.

Lets hope the 10 speed auto in the SS does exactly that .1 to 60 and .2 in the 1/4 mile over the A8. That will give Camaro at least a dead nuts even chance against the 10 speed auto 2018 Gt Mustang that has more than 460 HP and can wind to 7400RPM . I know this is a grey area for some, but I also hope with the 10 speed auto Camaro offers a rear option other than 2.77's. Give us a high 2.90's gear or 3.27 gear that already exist. The Fords have 3.15's and 3.55's and the gear ratio's inside both 10 speed auto's are the same.

I kind of tend to agree with more aggressive gearing for the 10 speed. It isn’t tooooo bad in the ZL1 because it makes tons of tq down low....but I could see an NA car with this trans benifitting from a steeper gear.

Gotcha, didn't know that... still a little hard to think GM would do something "better" in the Camaro than the Vette.

You gotta also keep in mind 2019 going to be the last year for the vette before the rumour mid engine... so it might be getting the 10 speed and they don't want to spend money to make it work in the current one just to be replaced.. as this model of camaro isn't going anywhere plus make its simple to drop it into everything on the alpha chassis....

They're still going to build the traditional Corvette along side it for at least a few years.

The 10 speed auto is also offered on the Ecoboost Mustang. Will Chevy have the 10 speed available on LT models?
