That's not close. Not saying it's a bad car so no reason to defend it. Its no Z06 on a track though. It does however have it's merits, especially if you're not going to track the cars.

Note that the C6Z time was for a Z07-equipped car on the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. Put a ZL1 up against a common garden-variety C6Z on more typical tires and the gap is much, much less - to the point where you'd need two drivers of similar skill to see any difference between the two cars.

between these two cars, the zl1 is just too heavy. plus, IMO, NA is way more fun to drive.

i would pick the c6z.

Look I like the ZL1 too, but a 4100lb ZL1 is just not hanging on a track with a 3100lbs C6Z with equally skilled drivers. Even if you had a really long track with nothing but straights and a large radius turns I don't think it would be that close.

Anyway I don't think that matters to the average Joe, and unless we want to pay RP to do a few laps of VIR with each car on the same day it's not getting us anywhere.

Or get a 17 ZL1 and according to Wikipedia it's within 1 second of that Z06 time (don't know if the Wikipedia entry is true or somebody messing with the page)

I've owned a c5z and it was not a great distance car.
If you want comfortable and are going C6Z, do yourself a favor and ensure you get magnetic ride control.

With MSRC on the C6Z, you could easily do either comfortably for a 6 hr drive. You'll feel bad roads more in the C6Z, and probably appreciate the space more in the ZL1. Would call the ZL1 more comfy, and the C6Z more fun, although both are a joy to drive.

Have you driven both? It's a tough call that all the threads in the world won't help you make. Both cars are fantastic. Tough problem to have

If it is a daily driver, ZL1 all the way. That is coming from a z06 owner.

Zl1 is more comfy, rides nicer, more reliable, better stereo, more room, more features, trunk, back seat, lower maintenance cost.

I never said that it was quicker than the z06, but that the ZL1 is a terrific handler in its own right. It actually beat two c6 cars that came before it (from Wikipedia):

7.41.50- zr1 Aug. 2009
7.42.9 -c6z06 2005

But the corvettes ran quicker times later. It speaks volumes about the ZL1 which is a tad more than 800 lbs. heavier than both the z06 and zr1.
