The gauges sawyed my decision considerably, too. I probably could've done without the leather.

When I found out that leather wasn't available on the 1SS, I knew that was the car I was going to buy.

think I'll chime in now with my thoughts...

While I've seen a 5thgen with leather and have only sat in one with cloth I think there are some obvious pro's and con's to both being an owner of a car that has leather and spending plenty of time in many with cloth.

First off I notice lots of different textures of fabric being used for cloth seats now days. The one I saw in the Camaro was nice in appearance but felt a little rough upon seating. I think a lot of how I feel about the cloth in the 5thgen comes from the beige color that was on the car I sat in and I absolutely HATED it. I think I'll have to sit in a car with black cloth to get a feel as to whether or not I'll like it. I'm also unsure about cleanliness as cloth tends to absorb and hold a lot of odors and spills.

As for leather I don't like it's high degree of temperature sensitivity, especially living in Southern California. As many have already said it doesn't wear well without intense care after many years have passed on. Other than that it's comfy and adds a nice premium feel to the car. However I'm not sure it's worth the cost for me. Time will tell how this all plays out but it would have been nice if Chevy had offered some alternative materials for the seat fabric.

The leather in Thor was awesome. Best seats I've ever been in.

But the cloth seats in the 1LT/RS at my local Chevy dealer were comfortable as well.

IMO, leather's better, but for those on a budget, you won't be too disappointed with cloth.

If you've got cloth seats, you could always upgrade down the road. Maybe with some Sparco racing seats.

I've been waiting for this car my whole life and want it with every feature. Some things appeal to me and I have gone with leather seats in every car I've bought over the last 15 years. All leathers aren't the same but this leather is good quallity. Properly taken care of it will only get more comfortable over the years and will still be in great shape 10-15 years from now.
