I got my windows tinted on Monday and thought about doing the front window as well since it heats up to the surface of the sun here in Phoenix. Glad I didn't because my windshield got hit by a rock on the way to work yesterday and cracked it. That is the only reason I have never tinted my front windshield.

I had my windshield tinted until I had to have it replaced and I didn't want to pay to have the new one tinted. Not sure how dark it was. I did get a $175 ticket from state police....the day I found out I was swapping windshields no less.

Does a ticket for that go against your driving points?

I don't make the rules or laws but I do feel a lot better walking up to a car knowing I can see the occupants, contents and have a grasp on intent and whether or not I'll be seeing my family at the end of the day. Granted, it looks good but you can separate from a guy with a nice car who is trying to have his ride look show car sweet and Billy Bad Ass who is ready to smoke a cop for GP because the best part of his genes dripped down his mother and father's thighs during conception.

None the less, it is what it is and if one choses to violate it the then they too are prepared to deal with the results. Again, it looks good as hell in most instances but nothing I'm willing to do and not even a doctor will sign off on it for medical reasons when one could wear glasses for their eyes. I've had a couple use that reason for their tint and their own doctor refused to put their practice and license over state law.
Good point. I will agree that the safety of police officers out weighs the cool factor.

True but it's not a law that you have to. So someone could drive around with sunglasses with a darker tint than a windshield tinted at 50%.

don't most police officers approach from the rear of the vehicle on traffic stops? wouldn't it make more sense to limit the tint on the rear windshield or side windows for them to see in?

True and ive seen plenty of knuckleheads riding bikes at night with dark tint glasses on. I absolutly can not, I have a pair of clear glasses I wear at night. Or if my full face is on I have the transitions lenses shield that auto dims in sunlight and goes back to clear in less light.

Have done this on my past 2 cars and never had a single cop say anything (and that is like 6-7 cops )

Driving a high horse powered car that weighs heavy without race track suspension is very hard if you push it, and push it you should. The windows are so tiny to begin with on the side and back that we need a backup TV. The front you have to guess where you are going when you park or take a corner. Now to darken it up 50%. Either you don't drive it fast or you just like pimping your car down main street.

I'm actually signed up to take advanced track driving at Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton Washington. Competed successfully in motorcycle racing and car racing with multiple championships over 40 years. As they say everybody goes fast on the straights, it's the corners where races are won. Don't consider drag racing as real racing just like ping pong isn't really real tennis. Horsepower doesn't mean you are a good driver. it just means you have more money. Until you can drive any thing more than 110% you don't need to modify your car. People will not like me for this. Oh well. Emperor's clothes you know.
