Thanks for the replies everyone. As I said in my original post I will never see a track so the 1LE pack feels like a waste for my purposes after everything ive read. I want the most straight line speed out of my car so im going with a SS and will have the 3.91 gears installed.

I have a 2011 2SS L99 A6

Have the 3.91 GM gears, FE4 upgrade, BMR sways (front and rear that are like the 1LE), 1" lowering springs, trailing arms/bushings. LOVE the changes. While its not a 1LE, I wanted a 'sometimes' track, 'sometimes' straightline runner -- with the bolts ons (all of them -- no internals -- yet), it screams. The suspension mods helped with 'wheel hop' and keeping the SS feeling like its on rails.

I do like the 1LE options -- they are solid and help if you intended to go 'heavy duty' with FI/SC. For me, I'm not doing that and @ most will go 500 RWHP with cam/heads as the last mod I'd do.

I'd suggest doing bolt ons only first. The suspension mods (FE4, Sways, Springs) are a DIY if you are so inclined (I did those myself).

I had a GM Dealer install the 3.91 gears. Did do a tune as I had headers, etc done.

If you're interested in the bolt ons (HP), you can read about those here:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=364759

And the suspension mods here:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=371323

I did have to change underdrive pulley to ATI -- you can read here:

Gotta pay to play!

There's a point to be made for those who want a great handling Camaro with an automatic. The factory does not offer anything fitting this description, south of an automatic ZL1. 1LE upgrades + a few minor aftermarket suspension upgrades can accomplish this task.

One thing I noticed, though is that the dampers on 1LE work better the more loaded they get. I wonder how the standard SS dampers are.

1le hands down... its how the camaro should have been built to begin with.. and i have whooped ss on the street..(in mexico) and also done very well stock to stock with the 5.0,s ive driven a stock ss and its just not the same.. the 1le is tougher to run at the 1/4 track but it can.. just like someone else said you would be nuts not to pay 3500 for the package .

For a daily driver I'd get the 1LE and skip the Recaros. Great for the track, sounds you plan little to no track use... skip them. To me the power seats much more comfortable. The 1LE is a handling machine, you will enjoy the heck out of it on the street. The package is a bargain. If I bought something right now, it would be a loaded up 1LE, no Recaros, no sunroof. Depends on torso size whether the Recaros are every day comfortable. I love them on the track, can't stand them after a half hour on the street.

No ss would beat me either when I was stock in my ss. Its just drivers difference. 12.9 and 13.0 isn't a big difference

Im thinking about pulling the trigger on the 1LE gears... whats the labor looking like to install the gears. Is my Hypertech good enough to adjust the gear ratio?

i can hit about 105ish in third.. or thats where i like to shift.. 6600 rpms... and the only reason the ss beats the 1le at the 1/4 is the ss susp. has more give and squat.. the 1le.. does not.. takes alot of practice to hit 12. anything in my 1le.. but on a closed coarse road man this thing goes and goes... all the way to the top.... lol..

from a roll.. wow 1le again hands down.. the only car stock for stock that gives me a good run is a 5.0 manual... havent tried a auto which i would probably loose but not by much... but the 5.0.. pulling all the way to 145 ish... and he is right at my door the whole time.. imo a non 1le with 3.91 i think you will run out of gear up top... from what i have read.. the gearing in the ss and 1le is different in the trans...

I think the ss with 3.91's will easily beat a 5.0 or a 1le. From what I've read. I'm sure other people will chime in on this
