Really you guys are complaining about
an automatic lol, its a sport car, not a Miata get a manual ( a man's car).. Putting in a 10 speed automatic is retarded, just like having a 7th gear in the vetts. The camaro's now can out run a standard vet, because of the gears..

For the "other" 99.5% of the time Im not racing my car down crowded city streets, the automatic extra gears make total sense. Shifting gets old fast driving back and forth on short everyday life trips - its all a personal preference.

My previous mostly stock 2013 grand sport could have easily bested ANY stock 2016 SS hands down - best year/model ever for pure corvette raw off the line power (even faster than my 2016 stingray and its seemingly throttled back power). Can speak from real hands on experience with all 3.

When the car glued my head to the seat, and the shift speed and backfiring reminded me of the firing range....I don't recall losing my man-card.

Not sure why you are using a Miata in your example as I have seen way more Miata's that are a manual transmission than I have auto transmission. So by your definition of a man's car (requiring a manual) a Miata is definitely a man's car.

I wouldn't say having 7 gears in a manual is a bad thing either. Before 6 speeds there were only 5 speeds. Before 5 speeds there were only 4 speeds. So the natural progression is to try and engineer another gear into the transmissions to give the driver more choices for optimum performance. Nothing wrong with that.

The Camaro you are referring to as Outrunning a standard Vette is not a Standard Camaro either. It would be a ZL1 with 650HP as the 10 speed is not available in any other models yet. So I should hope a 650 HP Camaro can outrun a standard 455 HP Vette.

Did not know that. I autocross a lot and I've only ever seen a manual trans Miata. And I thought the Miata guys told me once that it was only available with a manual. Well I wasn't 100% sure and probably should have done a little more searching first.

The difference between a 10 speed automatic and a whatever speed manual trans is the difference between using a calculator or manually using a pencil and paper to solve a math problem. Technology has advanced for the win...
