What words did I put in your mouth? I'm talking about the magazine article, the camaro had summer tires the mustang had all seasons, that is all. What excuses do I have? Better yet, why am I making an excuse for a car? Seriously?

Common sense will tell you tho, that if the 2010 mustang gt went 13.4 at 104 mph, then the 2011 mustang gt should go faster then 13.3 at 107.

Superman, the 2010 mustang won a lot of the overall comparisons too, however performance wise other than handling the camaro was a clear winner. Also to be noted, looks are subjective, interior quality is not subjective. And it has been said many times even for road courses it is much better to have fords vastly upgraded live axle then chevy's average irs. Until Chevy upgrades it, that's the way it is.

Yea and my friend can run a 10.4 in the 100 meter.

Who gives a shit what other people run, what do YOU run?

All this aside, at least the GT can compete with the SS.... finally.

Which is a popular conception. My R/T, when corrected for a sea-level run was 13.169 seconds @ 106 mph (in 2500+ DA it was 13.6 @ 103.00).

But the R/T's do have a reputation of being "slow" because of the magazines, even tho at the recent Camaro fest a STOCK R/T killed 3 SS's.

I laugh every time I see this mentioned. I'm sure those egg head engineers at Ford have no idea about IRS and the benefits it provides on the 1/4 mile track. Oh wait, they did use this on the Terminator Cobras and the owners swapped it out for the antiquated "log rear axle"

haha i gotta admit all the Challenger R/Ts i see down here around my area cant break a 13.5....couldbe different somwhere else. I thought the SRT was supposed to be the bad boy? i know nothing though challenger boys dont take the opportunity to bash.

I think that's what everyone else thought too. Without breaking the rules on this site, as they pertain to street racing stories, I gotta say I have been way less than impressed with what I've seen of the R/T and even SRT.

how did this turn into "the challenger is slow" thread? lots of hate i must say! i will add a few things since now my car is all of a sudden a part of this thread!

squatinon18s: 13.5's for the R/T stock is in the average range for what we are seeing. some guys are even lower. the lowest times are coming from the autos, as launching a 4000lb car on crappy all season touring tires is VERY tricky with the manual. i just cant figure it out on mine. it takes a lot of finess without going up in smoke. poor selection by dodge on the shoes that come on them. i know, i know, sounds like an excuse i'm sure, but with a good set of rubber, cat-back and drop in filters, R/Ts have been in the high 12's. bone stock, nobody is touching 12's obviously. mostly 13.1-13.6 for people that know how to drive and of course it all depends on location and weather conditions.

about the SRT being the top dog...its a numbers game. there are just too many SRT owners that will not track their car either because they just dont care to or they think it will be some sought after collectors item 30 years from now. the total production for challengers is VERY low compared to the competition. there are more R/T guys tracking their cars which there is more data to pull from and the new 5.7 vvt engine is under rated a bit (did i say that!? last time i brought that up i was accused of living in a fantasy world! so be it.) which is why times are so close to the 6.1 and a 6.4 is on the way.

and i'm a challenger guy that doesnt "bash." i really like all 3 brands and would love to own one of each. i can accept other brands along side of mine, unlike some guys on this board. (thats not directed towards you, squatinOn18's)

just want to help set the facts straight, as it seems ViperTomcat's posts are ignored.
