I'd rather wait until actual good drivers get to the tracks.

If this is a drivers race, the advantage definitely goes to the mustang. Just like the 2010 mustang and 2010 camaro is a drivers race, with the advantage definitely going towards the camaro.
This is nothing like the beatdown the 2010 Camaro handed the 2010 Mustang. Not even close. The 2010 GT vs. the 2010 SS is only a drivers race if the Camaro driver starts in third gear. The 2011 GT MAY have an edge, but as these results show, this is much more of a drivers race than anything else. Certainly not the runaway victory Ford fans were expecting, and nothing like the runaway victory the 2010 Camaro enjoyed over the 2010 Mustang.

Not really, I mean the camaro is a 13 second flat car give or take a tenth. The mustang gt is a consistent 13.4 second car (without the track pack but WITH the 3.73 gears and recalibrated stabilitrak). The new mustang gt is a 12.8 second car, yeah it had one bad pass but so did the camaro (ran a 13.3). so if 2 tenths of a second is a drivers race, then 2 MORE tenths of a second is nothing to right home about, right?

The "beatdown" the camaro handed the mustang even though it lost some comparisons as well? Yeah, I think I know what "beatdown" you're talking about. I find it really amazing how jaded some of you camaro owners are, you make the same arguments against the mustang as you do for the camaro, its really hilarious.

As an FYI - 13lbs. of boost is the limit on the LS3 stock internals.

nah dude because i'm just a nasty troll and I drive roller skates to work every day.

All I am saying is be fair and realistic. all cars have bad runs and good runs on these magazines. i'm sure they screwed up a ferrari's time one day, you don't go around saying you're faster than a ferrari though right?

I really don't see that many posts saying that the 12.7 run didn't happen.

Never called you a troll, was just curious.

I just find it funny how bitter you, ViperTomcat and SWAT_79 are.

EDIT: Also, you have to admit it is slightly funny that after all the talk of how the GT will destroy the SS this happens. Do I think this is correct times? Not really, but I still think it's funny, and that's coming from a guy about to put in an order for a 2011 GT.

The 2010 Mustang only won magazine competitions when all the data was put aside and they talked about more subjective items like steering feel, visibility, etc. I don't care about some magazine writers opinion, I am talking about the numbers (again concerning the 2010 matchup). Considering the Camaro was trapping 6-8 mph higher, I would say that is pretty significant, and shows the power difference between the cars. There were no tests in 2010 that the Mustang even came close to the Camaro, the reverse is not true.

I`m interested to see if a bolt-on only 2011 GT can hang w/ my bolt-on only auto Camaro. Somehow, I doubt it, especially considering the GT already has headers to get to the 412hp rating, not to mention already has gears w/ the perf pack. Stock internal, no power adder w/ full bolt-ons I think the Auto Camaro will come out on top vs the Auto Mustang.
I doubt we will see the 500rwhp NA mustang w/ a stock bottom end either. There is just much more potential in the LS motors, at least it appears so at this point.

Stock for stock I agree the 2011 auto mustang should win the race vs the auto Camaro however. Kinda hard to overcome 200+ extra pounds, 12 extra hp, gears and headers already installed...Lol.. Ford certainly raised the bar w/ this car. Its light years better than the previous motor.

The only drawback I see is w/ the super high compression I don`t see every GT owner slapping a blower on it like every 4.6 guy has been doing to compete.. Those that do will face the same issues as those in the LS community, you can`t run very much boost and still be safe. But again this is theory, we won`t know until people start doing it.

Maybe you should listen to yourself. I wouldn't take anything as a staple right now, especially anything from Motor Trend. Anyone remember the Shoot Out they did where the Mazda Miata got 3rd with the likes of the ZR-1, SS, GT-500? Ever heard of pay for play on the radio???? Thats not the only industry it happens in.

12.7 isnt a given nor is 13.2. I would say it falls toward the lower side and is about even with the Camaro.

Found another source: http://www.edmunds.com/ford/mustang/2011/testdrive.html

So Edmunds ran a 13.0 in the GT and a 13.1 in the SS (Note: Different time , different place)

Car and Driver ran a 13.0 in the SS and 13.2 in the GT (Note: Same time , same place)

So I would say right now hanging on to the 12.7 is being a little nieve
