Agreed!!!! I *think* he's said he can do one for GPI's SS1 VVT cam, but maybe no bigger than that. If that's true, I might be able to save $500 on a tune...hmm...

I don't think so, but I would suggest you talk to him first. I was talking to him about this when I was searching for my cam. He had been my tuner since 2016 and I wanted to stay with him, as his tunes are great and he has always helped me out. He told me he prefers to keep his remotely tuned cams under .600 lift, and the VVT SS1 is much larger and is similar to my cam's specs (in my sig). He had no issues referring me to GPI for remote tuning and actually told me flat out that nobody knows their cams better than them (GPI) when I told him I was looking at the GPI LS3 SS1 cam. I'm sure it's a different story though if you tune at his actual shop, as he can likely tune for everything.

I went with GPI for everything (Cam, tune, related parts) and could not be happier as Ryan Stevens is a freaking pro. Just the fact that DynoSteve referred me to GPI and was more concerned with me being happy with the end results really reinforced in me what a cool guy he is. He didn't BS me or try and keep me as his customer with false claims or promises, nor did he blow me off. He gave me honest advice as to what would serve me best, and I really appreciate him for doing that.

I did the exchange thing and got my ported/polished - no heat shield.
So did you end up needing a retune after the ported intake?

I don't 'need' one, no. I've been driving it for awhile now and have noticed in a very few situations some rpm flutter, but nothing that concerns me. I should get an updated tune from DynoSteve but he says I should datalog and then send it to him to get the best results.

Thanks for the update. I was told as well that a retune isn't necessary for this mod. But it's nice to hear some feedback from someone that's done it.
