" The base SS is faster than the 1le"

That's basically what he said. But the tone he used would lead one to believe that's on the standard suspension.

Sounds impossible.

In the full length video posted they say that pricing will be out in about 2 weeks as we have heard before, not a month.

It should bode well for all 3 engines, but he was specifically talking about the 2.0T when he said this.

If the v6 lost about 300 pounds and v8 about 200, that means there is closer to a 300 pound difference between v6 and v8 for 2016. Used to be about 200 for 5th gen. However, it makes sense. The LT1 is heavier than LS3 and new goodies on even base SS, while v6 is actually lighter along with lighter auto transmission I believe.
I said a while back that on this gen, there would be a bigger difference than we are used to seeing between a base V6 model, and the 1SS. I think that is probably mostly due to the fact that the SS comes standard with all that extra cooling and better performing brakes. Add the package to the V6 which includes the optional brakes and the cooling and I'm thinking that will likely bring it closer to the norm.

Glad to see he is still pushing the "200+" pounds lost statement. In my opinion, the car is going to be the equivalent or slightly better than 2015 Mustang weight.

I wouldn't say impossible, but I hope they didn't forsake any bit of comfort left in the SS ride for better track performance. I don't believe GM would do that. The MRC option exists for a reason...comfort and track ability, while the standard suspension should come somewhere in between those two.

So I'm not going to jump the gun, and instead I'm just going to assume that with MRC the car is faster than a 1LE, but I don't think its impossible with the standard suspension, so if it is I'll be presently surprised!

lol...very nice. He basically stopped just short of outright saying the base 2.0 is just as fast or faster than the 2.3 in the Mustang. Awesome.

Which shouldn't be hard to believe stock for stock. An ATS 2.0 practically runs with the Ecoboost Mustang now. Camaro 2.0 will be tuned a little differently and maybe get even a little quicker due to that.

I gotta say I've been a bit skeptical about the 200lb weight loss for the SS version but they seem pretty head strong on sticking to these numbers. I truly hope they are true. At this point I'm not sure how or why they would still lie so I'm onboard as of now. If only I wasn't saving for a house.

He's got to be crazy to still say these things ( 200 lb loss) if they haven't hit the mark this late in the game.

At this point they know exactly what the car weighs.

Anyone hear more talk about the convertible. I'm wondering things like stiffness over gen 5, weight penalty / performance penalty etc vs coupe / gen 5 'vert...

Well just remember you can always sleep in your car but you can't drive a house.

Hearing the stark difference in wording of Al's talk about 6th weight vs. the GT350 weight comments is a definite indicator. Again, to not hit those targets will be an epic PR failure.
