Just got off the phone with my dealer SM. Chevy says my HUD problems (both the fan indicator freezing and the radio to HUD info not working) are becoming more wide spread. They don't know the solution yet. But they are authorizing a new radio for my Camaro. I am bringing it in tomorrow morning to have the new radio installed. Stay tuned for the results. Chevy told him there apparently is a connection between both problems as others have reported the same concurrent issues with their units.

I had this happen to me a few times and I have noticed when it does my AC indicators freezes at a certain number and stays there whether you move up or down the AC speed. Everytime I see my AC frozen on my mylink screen then I know my HUD will not synchronize properly with the touch screen radio. Only solution so far was to shut down the car and turn it back on. I really don't mind too much as I only use the HUD sometimes and also sometimes it seems to correct itself after a while driving. I don't turn of and on my car either. I would assume its a firmware issue that hopefully will get fix soon. I will mention it to my dealer next oil change though. Also if they are replacing your head unit make sure you have to rattles and everything is in the right place.
Good luck!

Thanks Chris. Sounds like you have the same problem. Only re-starting the ignition cures the fan freeze but not the HUD issue. Or not necessarily. Sometimes it alternates from one start to another but there is really no consistent pattern. It does appear the software in the Mylink has been corrupted.

It is good news Reggie...if it works. I don't know what else they can replace. I don't think the HUD is malfunctioning because all over information (including NAV) comes through just fine.

Bad news Reggie...they're going to have to find something else to replace, including the new radio they put in today. So far the fan speed indicator seems to be OK but time will tell. The issue with feeding radio info to HUD still exists, like every other time I start the car. And now something new has arisen (sp.?). I took a drive to Newport and back today, and three times the Mylink shut down completely for about one minute then re-started itself. It didn't just turn off, it completely went black like the car wasn't even on. The first time it happened was before I pulled out of the dealer parking lot. Well I called the SM and he put a hold on sending back my old radio and we're going to wait and see if the fan speed indicator issue is resolved. Stay tuned.

Wow benji1997,

Sorry you are having such a difficult time with this issue. This is very strange I must say. It is great that you contacted your dealer immediately on this. I definitely want to make sure that you are updating them on every issue so that they are documenting these issues. Please private message me your VIN and current mileage and I will see if I have any information I can provide. Include the URL of this page so that I can reference your issue.

I forgot to mention it but the fan speed indicator still freezes so the only thing the new radio accomplished was to give me a new issue with the blank screen.

It's not that strange. It's happening to so many people it's not funny. Mine is doing the same thing. Brand new car. It's a shame to send cars like these out with such issues.

Sorry to hear that. I'm not surprised though...def a sw issue...not hw. I'm surprised they agreed to swap the unit out. They should have known better.

Seems like everyone knows it's a SW issue except GM.

Old radio is back in. No freezing on the fan indicator yet. But the radio information to HUD works one time, then not the next. What ever is the current case, you can't reverse it by just re-starting the car. Eventually that works but you could go through 10 starts before it does. Conversely, once it is working, you can't get it not to work.

I'll add that mine does this as well. Sometimes I can turn the radio off and back on and then everything works. It's not the worst thing that could happen, but it is a tiny bit upsetting that they have these kind of bugs in the system.
