Goodluck tramtwo! I'm in the same spot where a rattle is causing my knock sensors to suck some guts outta the car. I think I found the cause though ... a loose baffle in the passenger side exhaust muffler.

Good luck finding it. I guess I'd get the car up in the air and go all over the underneath with a rubber mallet and see what you can find.

This is where I am at in the process.

Search 'rattle' on this site and about a thousand threads are returned.
We had a car doing that, and I found a Rock in the right rear lower control arm, it was driving the guy NUTS for a month, I found it in 10 minutes.

Ted.
Going to check for rocks in the morning... although I really doubt this. There is a bell like quality to the rattling in that it rattles deeply and then creeks out until the next bump generates the deep rattle again and the sounds overlap.

I have no mufflers so can't be baffles.

Good luck. I know this kind of thing can be very frustrating.

What exactly is a muffler delete? Having not seen one, I assume there is a pipe or can that replaces the deleted muffler. If that's the case can you temporarily remove some of the exhaust system like from headers back to see if it eliminates the knock?

A good thump with a rubber mallet can be revealing. Also if you can consistantly duplicate the sound, especially as lower speeds, having someone standing outside of the car while you drive by near them may help. I found a squeaky bushing near the front of the car that I was sure was right underneath me this way.

yep a pipe that replaces the mufflers... that work is tight. I am positive is is some suspension component/s.

The question becomes is just how much will the car try to adjust, I guess there is a limit to where the timing can be set.

Ok checked for hidden rattling rocks, there are none that I could fine.

While under there I took this photo. Is this normal?

As long as the bolts are tight I don't see anything out of normal.

That link is meant to tweak a bit. Some have loosened up and made a noise.

But I don't think there's much chance that a rattle at the end links will be read by the KR at the engine.

Ok thanks, just looked odd... the search continues.

Maybe the mods should move this to the suspension section.
