Use the Force
|
Although I do not truly qualify for this question, I have tracked manual and automatic 2015 Z51's. For daily everyday driving and very light track use the the A8 cannot be beat. For absolute straight-line speed the A8 cannot be beat. For old fashioned fun and track use the M7 with rev-match is exquisite !!! I really like the A8 in our Z51 and the over 30 MPG on the road but if it was a Z06, it would have a manual.

Love my 2014 C7 A6 but when I ordered my Z06 had to go manual. I got the auto thinking my wife could drive it....but 13 months later she never has. Auto's are faster straight line but nothing beats a manual for pure fun.

I've had my A8 Z06 for about 3 weeks, and I love it. The tranny shifts incredibly well, and truly does manage almost all driving conditions well. The car is tame when you want tame, and a beast when ready for fun. The A8 and all related electronics help maintain traction really well. I'm not certain the M7 could do that as well, of course some people may not like to maintain traction ...

I had the opportunity to drive the 8spd auto twice this past week and with a knee replacement coming in November it is really my only choice with that being said I would still order it over the M7 I still have two(2) manuall camaros if i really need to have three pedals simply amazing performance although this will be my first high HP car with an auto

Had a 2014 C7 with manual, now own a 2015 Z06 with the A8. I wouldn't go back. I paddle shift often and the gear changes are quick and smooth. Just got back from Spring Mountain with two days of A8 Z06 track time and it was awesome.

I'm not a Z06 owner, but if I could chime in anyway, I personally would love an automatic that shifts when I want it to shift. Up or down. I've yet to drive an automatic that didn't have some delay in the shift.
I'd love to give the new Vette a ride, just haven't yet. The other benefit to me is that I could go much wilder on the engine build without having to drive a high stall converter on the street. To me, a high stall converter kills a street car's driveability.

I agree on the loose converters. It makes driving around town more challenging, but it is great when you want to go. Loved the raw power of my Camaro, but between the risk of scraping on every speed bump and how careful you had to be in stop/go traffic, it got to the point where I didn't drive it to work very much. I drive the vette to work at least 3 days a week and on the weekends I only drive the truck when I need the bed.
