Calling BS. We will see if JimM chimes in but adding a hand full of next model year vehicles adds a lot of chaos for a company. 1000s maybe, not a few

Right, I mean the most substantial things I guess were the infotainment update and the 10 speed. The 6th gen was really groundbreaking when it was introduced (and it's still awesome), but I just feel they could have made some changes along the years. Imagine the LT2 in this car?

On top of that, I think one of the biggest mistakes was not having a Z/28. I mean I would have scrounged and saved to get one if they did. This chassis would be the perfect candidate for one. Look how good the 5th gen was and that was on the old Zeta platform.

A 6th gen Z/28 would have been awesome as a farewell to the ICE Camaros and I would pay a premium had it come out. I think any innovations to the Camaro line died with Al switching divisions years ago.

Wishful thinking to be sure, but... I've been playen' this Camaro game awhile (best buddy in H.S. had a '67 with the V8- but it was the utilitarian 305 with a 3spd auto). He made the best of it by painting it silver with a black rally stripe around the nose and the ubiquitous Cragar mags that completed the look.

I watched the 2nd Gen cars slide into obsolescence due to the EPA, OPEC, and the overall need for cleaner air- but I still bought a '81 just cuz I could afford it- whatta dog! Then got a raise and bought a '86 Z/28 (3rd Gen), but even it was rated at just 185hp. The 4th Gen was a much better/faster car but didn't have "the" look.

When the 5th Gens were revealed I was all in, but when the 6th Gens came out I made the mistake of test driving one... OMG, I was in love. Chevy really shocked me with their desire to be the Big Dog at the "speed for the poor man" market. Maybe they'll shock us again (who would've thunk a big block Z/28 5th Gen!).
But the likely outcome would more likely be two tone paint, special wheels, and re-badging of an SS/1LE with a good mark up, if there's any Z at all.

Your friends 67 wouldn’t have had a 305, unless he changed to that motor in the 80’s.

Well Queen Mary did kill the development of the 6th gen Z28 in late 2019.
Maybe it will be resurrected for a short run but that goes against everything that has been released, including the GM release with the shadowy ZL1.

Memories do fade... I know it was some odd displacement and maybe it was my '86 that had a 305! I'll touch base with Charlie and see if he can remember. Thanks for the correction.

Wait a minute- was there a 307 that was some kind of hybrid (or bastardization) of a 327 and the 302?

Yes, there was a 307 and 327 available.

The 5th gen Z/28 was a LS7 small block 427.

https://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/gm-engines/ls7/

Still a great motor but not a big block. Just a tweaked LS.

I agree with the rest, they will produce a limited number of Z/28’s for the swan song, but it’ll be badging and some other unique stuff. Maybe some type of performance enhancement that will cost little in terms of production, but will garner a premium MSRP and the very last one will be bought at Mecum or BJ by Rick Hendrick with a lot of hoopla.

Car and Driver is out of content currently it seems.

Here’s the ‘2026 Mustang Raptor’ they have in the May 2023 issue which is a fluff article covered with someone’s render. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...ustang-raptor/

Yet again, another article written based on a picture with no evidence like this ‘z28’ they posted in their May edition
