Better than the way you have to "learn" your tire pressure monitors when rotating tires. You have to let the air out of a tire and wait for the horn. Then hurry to the next tire and do the same thing and repeat till all four are done. If you take too long you have to start all over. Drives my neighbors crazy.

Can we find something that's even more trivial to bitch about

I prefer it to be this way, but I'm a little different then most because I actualy use the trip odometer to figure out my milage at each fill up, and I also use it more then the gas gauge on knowing it is time to fill up. Years ago I had the sending unit go out on the gas gauge and learned very quickly to pay more attention to my trip odometer because I knew how many miles I can go till empty.

You care about your car!

I prefer not to go wiht the oil life meter anyways, condifering other variables the oil maybe is not worn out but it could be "dirty"! Still a good idea to change it every 3000 miles maybe.

This is pretty normal.

On toyotas, you have to set it to trip A, shut off the car, turn it to accessory and hold the trip reset button for about 5 seconds. It's never going to be something simple so there won't be mistakes.

Okay...

The 6th gen Camaro's oil life reset sequence will be as follows...

Turn ignition on (engine off)
Turn ignition off.
Turn ignition on, hold for two seconds.
Turn ignition off.
Turn ignition on.
Run outside and open the gas cap.
Close gas cap and run back inside car.
Pump brake, clutch, and accelerator all at the same time, three times (if you have an automatic, have fun figuring this step out ).
Flash your headlights six times.
Slide a CD into the CD player and listen to the longest song. If it's not the longest song, you'll have to start from step one.
Run through all your presets twice.
Open and close the trunk.
Turn the ignition off, exit vehicle.
Run around the car, flailing arms wildly.

After this is all done, the oil life monitor should reset to 100%. If not, bang head against hood to activate the manual override.

Pumping the gas pedal doesn't seem so bad now, does it?

I read that this was the process:

"To reset the engine oil life system press the SET button while the Oil Life display is active."

1. Turn on the ignition, with the engine off.

3. Turn off the ignition.

My Buicks use the same reset button as the trip computer and MPG calculator. This is pretty lame for these days.
My '06 Monte Carlo also says to reset the oil monitor that way. However, it will also reset by just holding down the check mark button for 5 seconds.

my 06 GMC duramax is cycle the info center to oil life and press the arrow button for about 5 seconds and it resets. My 02 chevy half ton was the gas pettal thing as well as my 98 grand prix. Kinda silly but they didnt have info centers like they do now so no worries.
