Look at the nose of that 69. The RS grille/hideaway headlights gives the car personality. I would love to see a Z/28/RS option package.

hideaways
I have flip ups on my 1995 Pontiac Trans Am Lt1 I have owned the car for years and have never had a problem with them so yes I think they should make them , but a aftermarket company will probablly be doing it due to GM concerns about reliability and adding more cost . The aftermarket company that brings this product to the market first WILL MAKE A KILLING IN SALES .I think hideaways are a BIG part of the Camaro heritage and look AWESOME
bring em on , I will be buying them for shure... |

With all this talk about having the RS fip-up headlights, and the concerns of fuctionality(that is a word, isn't it?)I began to think...who says it has to be functional? Why can't you just have 2 headlamp doors(69 version w/the 3 transparent lenses) permantly affixed to the headlamp housing, along with a matching grille.There-fore their would be no warranty issues for GM,or hassles for us as consumers. If your concerned about the headlamp beam being constricted, just thrown in a higher wattage/candle power headlamp. Those of you who are familar with physics, even if a light beam has a small object placed in from of it,does it restrict the light beam from continueing...no it doesn't,light continues and does,nt stop until a surface larger than the beam is placed in front of it...catch my drift?
For the most part the old way wouldn't be ethical for the new camaro, but i think if it was done the way i sudjested...who knows?Either way, even if GM does not produce the RS grille, their will be an aftermarket company who will, and i will be first in line to have it for my Camaro |

As much as I would endorse the production of RS-style headlamp covers, they don't seem that easy to do or even possible.
There's no way the law would allow them to be permanently affixed to the headlight, they'd have to be able to be removed, preferably automatically which would mean if unless they're made by the factory, then the aftermarket would also need to supply the right wiring to enable the covers to move out of the headlight's way in conditions warranting light. Plus, the turn signal. It could look potentially unattractive with the hideaway door covering the headlamp and the big silvery turn signal still right next to it, because there is no way it could lawfully cover the turn signal as well. Who knows, the aftermarket (or if GM decides to make this option) might figure it out for us, but all I am saying is that there are a lot of barriers blocking the production of old-school RS style headlamp covers. |

Hideaways/Spoiler
I prefer this design for a hideaway cover and grille. I really want a Z28 to be produced as well. Also the concept T/A Spoiler on the rear would look great. Kinda reminds me of my 91Z28

This will probably be an aftermarket option somewhere down the line. If not I cant imagine it being to expensive to get custom made.
