I'm going to guess this is all but invisible.

But not knowing the gear spacing, if you run to 8250 in first and then shift to second and don't drop below 6250 then you are ok. But if you don't then it seems like a 1/4 mile run would put you over 6250 for more than 8 seconds. So that being the case, I'm guessing the next gear gets you out of the 8 second range above 6250 rpm.

In the "real world" I would doubt you would ever notice unless you just like hearing the engine in higher rpms and just wanted to play in the upper register, for acoustic reasons only. Then you might find this.

The piece of literature the statement was made in has been removed.

Rest easy, there is no 8 second overrev function.
The overrev feature has been removed.

Keep in mind that that the Voodoo's power band is 1500 rpm higher than the LS7. If the feature was still in pace, that would be like Chevy limiting excursions above 5000 rpm. Anyway, no longer an issue

Hmmmmmmm

No longer certain of what is true. How can someone feel confident in their life when true facts on the Internet can be posted and then immediately changed to completely different true facts?????

My thoughts are if you're tracking it and you want to hold rpm's instead of shifting up it would make the decision for you at 8 seconds. If could definitely interfere with performance.

Yes, that GT40 sounds evil! You gotta love the Shelby following it.

1SS is too expensive. Well, not too expensive for what you get on a 1SS, however the 1SS being the "base V8" I would expect it to be cheaper. Starting price for a base GT is $32,300. So if I wanted to get a V8 and didn't care much about the other things I would have to pay $5,000 more for a Camaro than a Mustang. Seems silly to me. I don't understand why Chevy didn't make those add on options so that they can keep the "base" model in line with the price of a Mustang.

Also that 1SS price doesn't include mag ride, so figure an additional $1,500-2,000 for that.

I'm with you. I don't see how they can accept the much higher base price. With the sales numbers Mustang is putting up, people clearly don't mind an interior with less stuff standard. I don't see the Camaro coming back and taking the sales lead. The $4k difference will be hard to swallow.

They better get the weight down below the Mustang and just decimate it in every performance category.

Unless they release a 1LE that blows mine out of the water, I don't think I will upgrade.

The new Camaros have always been about give it all to the customer (everything is included) without having to do a bunch of options and upgrades. So far they've been able to keep the price competitive, maybe not so much now. Let's hope the performance keeps the momentum going.

That strategy is fine when you don't price yourself out of your direct competitor and like you mentioned, with the 5th gen they haven't done that. However the problem comes when you can add things to a Mustang to get it similarly equipped to a Camaro for the same price. IF/When you can do that, the Camaro is going to have huge issues.

Where do you think the ZL1 and/or Z/28 will be priced?

Pete - I really like your new shop.

Number 3 - Congrats on the new Z06 & welcome to my world. It is the best Corvette I have ever owned.

So sorry to hear about Lowdown, loved reading his posts. After losing my husband, it seems like my friends are dropping like flies. Lately I've been losing one or two a week. I'm putting the miles on the Z06 while I still can.

Re the Camaro 6 - I really LIKE it. I had the opportunity to drive it twice on the Belle Isle GP track during the Reveal. It is such an improvement. They gave it a clutch that I really like (I hated the clutch in my ZL1). The Team listened to all of my complaints and made a great car. The interior is really driver friendly. Take a good look at this new car and I think that you will like it. All of the
Disciples were pleased that the Camaro Team listened to what we had to say.

Janet
I have not been here much in the last three years, my wife passed away almost three years ago and like Janet, my friends have been dropping like flies also. I hope the 6th gen Camaro will be a huge success, I have been
all Chevy/GMC since the mid '60s. I was in intensive care for almost a month recently, gave me time reflect on what is important, so I am focusing on life, but high performance Chevys are still important to me.
