I'll make a prediction -
This thread will continue on for about 4 weeks with alternating posts "sales are fine, GM isn't complaining and changed their business model" and "you are crazy, must have more sales then Mustangs or it is a failure". Continue on....I'll check back in a few weeks to see if I was right |

No need to panic.
If GM has to address anything, how about the "all-new" Cruze being down by 35% vs last year's old model! Or the Vette being down by 21%, with the addition of better track recording technology...... GM needs to stay in this category. As long as they're making decent $ on each car; which I assume they are (comparing the price vs the competition). Also, moving production from Oshawa (Canada) to Lansing (US) was a win for them politically as well. In my world. I suffered with a raw deal on my car; my buddy who also wanted a 2016 Camaro bolted to Mopar, and got a new SRT 392. He went from ordering to his driveway in 33 days!! That is how to look after a customer....

Yeah, we still have like 50 more pages of this to go! There's not any juicy news on the ZL1 or 1LE to discuss so what else are we going to talk about?
So who's going to bet we see high 2k deliveries in January?

Never thought about it that way. GM has the Corvette too. If that didn't exist, more people would buy Camaros. Just like if Ford had a Corvette equivalent, it would take away some Mustang sales...

First lets agree that relying on Cars.com for inventory is a terrible option. I don't see that number as being accurate. I wouldn't be surprised if the number was higher or lower than what Cars.com says, but it certainly isn't some verified statistic. Second if we assume that number is correct, GM may be planning to idle the plant for some weeks coming up, and they find that it is more efficient to build x # of units and idle for several weeks than it is to furlough days or something like that. Perhaps they notice that problems increase when you have unusual schedules and they prefer to inflate inventories and have fewer manufacturing issues. I think car companies like to keep around 90 days of stock in inventory, so if they are at 4 or 5 months of inventory that means they have 30-60 days of surplus production at this point in time. 7 months of the year gone already, so if they have 30 days of production 'extra' that means that on average we would have wanted them to ship an additional 850 pcs or so over what they have sold each month so far. That seems like a bummer, but also seems like they can adjust production going forward to account for that without too much trouble. There is just so much doom and gloom in this thread and I think most of it comes from the knee jerk reaction of 'it isn't selling as much as Mustang' and I just don't think GM cares about that. |

Not true, they now have a focus with a 365 HP engine.
