Report what, that you've taken you're Camaro to a track & are driving it the way they themselves designed it to be driven?

My friend has a 2014 1LE SS and it has LT's, a cam and a ECS blower, he had it on the dyno to tune it and On-Star was calling his cell phone numerous times because he was excceding 100 MPH several times, he did not hear his phone ringing, the result, On-Star contacted his dealer and they voided his waranty!

Not saying I dont believe you but this sounds a little far fetched. Where in your warranty does it state you cant go over 100..... If they did why not just govern the car at 100. Someone got lied to.

It wasn't that he went over 100MPH, it was repeated times 6 or 7 over 100MPH, I saw the letter from GM explaining why they did what they did.

I don't see how GM can even consider something like this. It would be easy to get up over 100mph multiple days on a track day which doesn't have any effect on a warranty claim. |

This has proven to be a touchy subject in other forums. I will disable it if I can without it affecting anything else. If it is too much of a hassle or will affect something else, ill just call them and tell them to turn off two way connection. As for the whole dyno warranty thing...

Would having a Range device plugged in do the trick?

Just wrap the entire car in tin foil?

As you said, there has been discussion ad nauseum on the subject of OnStar and the other manufacturers services being used as big brother. Personally, it bugs me. I disconnected my antennas. I do give up the ability to do remote unlock and that's pretty much the only thing I can think of that's useful.. There was a story the other day about a lady driving a Ford that was involved in a hit and run. Her car reported the accident and the service called her asking if she was okay. Her reply was "I'm fine". They said "you were in an accident". She said, "no I wasn't" They continued to explain how they KNEW she was in an accident and asked her if she had fled the scene. She was located and arrested. Sure, that instance they caught someone running from an hit and run, I just dislike the constant never ending intrusion into my life by big brother. If I had my way, I would not have a computer, or Cell phone and I would live in a cave and sleep next to my Camaro. but my wife would probably not like that. |

Can assure you GM treats any data collected as just that, data.
I had a job at GM regarding collecting customer usage data. I was emphatically told there was NO WAY to associate the data with the owner, it would NOT be allowed. There were significant protections put in place to ensure customer privacy. Google GM and Volt regarding this. GM publicly acknowledged collecting customer usage data for the Volt and clearly laid out the details. Everyone else should just get your aluminum hats ready.
