This early build hold sometimes happens and sometimes does not. To my knowledge GM has never admitted a reason even hen we outsiders figure it out.

The most recent I am aware of was the launch of the Corvette Stingray, often referred to as the C7, during which a few thousand builds slept in Nashville while several hundred or more later builds were dealer delivered. That hold led to the discovery of 4D00, which is an actual QC Hold Event.

When the Sonic launched there were reports of some Turbocharged LTZ manual transmission equipped builds dealer delivered, than a stop to scheduling for production occurred. As best I can figure, the leather covered shifter knob indicated five forward and one backup gears. There was a photo of the gear knob posted. The problem was the manual transmission for turbocharged Sonics has six forward gears. The dealer delivered builds were shipped back to Orion, Michigan and sometime in November, over threewo months after the start of regular production, those orders shipped.

I do not have insider knowledge. All I have is years of experience ordering rather than buying off the lot along with watching for patterns in this process. I may be wrong saying it is a parts problem but I am definitely not wrong saying there is a QC Hold, a quarantine if you will, in place.

My guess for the C7 launch extended QC Hold: the carbon fiber roofs, both painted and visible. I have been told on the Corvette Forum I am wrong by people as wired to inside GM as I am but no one, either a GM person or an outsider looking in like me, has offered another reason. I believe my guess is correct but I have no proof.

Repairs will be completed and the quarantine lifted. I just have no idea of when.

The whole situation is beyond frustrating, when your spending over 40000 for a car your wanting better treatment and more updates then this. GM will take there good old time!

We obviously don't want cars that are not up to par and we would definitely be more frustrated then we are right now if our Camaro is in the shop for recalls every week! So it is bitter sweet wait until they come in!

I'm about to go finalize numbers with my dealer and possibly go through with the purchase. I heard mixed reviews about buying the car before it is delivered. Has any 10/12 peeps bought their Camaro yet?

I also saw from a forum member the dealer was starting to pay interest on the Camaro starting beginning of December. This could also be a strategy to get a better price to save the dealer the interest.

Sooooooooo over driving my damn Juke, if I do the deal early I will request a loaner car! That's the least they could do after all this drama

It really isn't their fault. Overall we ordered cars under the known facts it could be a long time before we saw the car. While I hate to accept that fact, its the truth. Just sucks us early adopters have to pay with extended wait times while not so early adopters get to go around and drive cars off the lots now.

If I was guaranteed a VIN within the first 100 cars by pre-ordering it would be worth doing again. But GM F'ed that up as well, running the car in a split VIN system with the Caddy's. Not doing this again...

Haven't yet. Spoke to my sales manager last week about coming in and finalizing everything, he said come on in and we could take care of everything including my trade. I would get a loaner as well, decided to hold off for a bit, if it will be a few more weeks then I don't want to have to worry about paying payments and insurance, etc, and the car is not here yet. Once I hit 4200 again and I get rail/truck info I will go in and take care of everything.

Hey Sledge, I can only imagine the stress of your situation. I think it may be beneficial to ask your dealership to loan you a car. It's exactly what mine did and until I get my car I'm driving a 2016 Tahoe. Perfect for a family. They should be more than willing to accommodate your situation

Has a 10/12er received their order, asked robcamaro. I believe Tr6 was always a 10/12er and last I saw is at 3800 even though there are pictures of Danica Patrick handing him his key fob.

Interesting you mentioned the 4D00, that is the code I got from Chevy Chat yesterday morning, but later yesterday I got 4300 from Becky. I will check with both again today. I may be in QC hell too. Can Becky see a code like 4D00 or is this only to Chevy and/or our dealer?

I don't think she can see that code. Like mine is technically at 4106, bailment released from being bayed at 4B00 on 11/11, but she can't see that, but my dealer sent me my order history yesterday and that is clearly the newest time stamp.
