The back seat DOES go down in a convertible. There's no pass-through, however. The seat goes down so you can access the woofer if you have the BA system.

Forget about folding it down. How about a seat delete kit to remove it completely, so the area can be used for luggage / cargo.
www.rearseatdelete.com makes a kit for the coupe, but not the convertible. |

There is two seperate releases for the seat backs. I pulled the panel in the trunk, PIA, and you then can see a couple 1/2 inch holes that again is a PIA to get to, but I was able to release the seat back so it can be folded down. Again if I forgot to mention it, It Was A PIA.

Why must new cars be so difficult sometimes... My '66 Chevelle is so simple: grab seat back in the center where it meets the seat, pull up firmly, and bada-bing, it's out... Anyway, it seemed to me that there was some question as to whether the rear seat folded forward or had to be removed in the convertible. On my 2011, it FOLDS forward after the two tabs are released. I chose to remove the plastic trim to do it for fear of damaging the seat cover. You have to pull the side trim first, then the center. No tools required. Then push back firmly on the seat-back to release the clip tension, hold it in and reach in to push down on the clip (or use a screwdriver through the small hole like others have said). Then pull the seat-back forward slightly. Repeat on the other side. Here's a pic showing the seat folded forward:
I didn't spend any time trying to figure out how to remove the seat-back, it seemed to be attached to the seat...
