This may be a silly question, but...
...is there a way of disabling the trunk release button on a convertible for when the top is down? When we go out to eat or to a park and don't want to put the top up every time we stop, it would be handy to be able to secure glove box papers and anything else, in the trunk. Glove box door locks are a joke.

I believe it automatically does that as long as you lock the doors. This is top up or down.

What's to keep a thief from unlocking the doors when the top is down? Grin...

I get your point. However, you posed the question and I gave the answer. Also, I might point out that when the doors are locked, security is activated and if the hood is popped open the alarm goes off.

Anyone else have any ideas in regard to my original question? Any way of securing the trunk switch when the top is down?

interesting question for sure. only thing I can think to do is to have a hidden switch that interrupts the trunk release button.either that, or, just disconnect the button in the interior of the car so it doesn't work at all. then you rely on the remote only. not the best solution, but is one.

It don’t come easy.
|
Just an FYI from a thread, long ago…
May or may not be of help. “The trunks are actually rather easy to lock outside of the rear pass through on coupes. If you push the lock button on the key fob the trunk is locked and cannot be opened without unlocking the car first. You can reach in through an open window, but as long as you pushed the key fob lock button the trunk release button will not open the trunk. On the flip side, if you can squeeze through an open window on a coupe to get to the trunk release then you need to eat a couple of sandwiches because you are way to thin!”
