I'm out as I get to spend the next year overseas so lug nuts aren't a big concern right now.

What is the weight difference of all 20 Ti vs Stock steel ones?

Hi Gene,

The function of the torque is to provide a clamping load. We have only done M12 and 1/2-20 Ti lugnuts with our current M17 socket forging, but M14 will be the same method. Here is our recommendation for the M12 lugnuts:

For the OEM steel Corvette M12x1.5 lugnuts, the GM spec is 100ft.lb but other sources state 70-90ft.lb for M12x1.5 lugnuts. I would recommend about 90ft.lb on standard M12 lugnuts and then use turn of the threads to calculate the Ti Lugnut torque.

Due to Ti lugnuts issue with galling, we recommend adding Permatex Antiseize to lubricate the threads and mating face. This drops the required on-torque and you need to recalculate using "turns of the nut" method. To do this:

1. Using your OEM lugnuts and no antiseize, tighten to 10ft.lb. Then measure the angle of the torque wrench until you reach the 90ft.lb
2. Add a thin film of antiseize to a OZMO Ti lugnut (thread and face), tighten to 10ft.lb and then turn the torque wrench the same angle as measured in #1 and read the torque on the torque wrench
3. The Ti lugnut is now providing the same clamp load / bolt stretch as your OEM lugnut at 90ft.lb
4. Do up the remaining lugnuts with either the "turn of the nut" method (best) or the torque measured in #2 (acceptable)

I am pretty sure the correct torque for a M14 lugnut is 120ft.lb, so you would use this as the starting point.

Regards,
Jamie Krogdahl

See post 31.

I'm interested in the cosmetics/rust resistance.

I have had a set for a year. They are pretty decent. I think its a 16mm 12 point they take.

I still have two sets for sale. I have changed the wheels I am using and they have a ball style seat and not a cone style (like OEM).
Thanks,
Gene

Short answer, yes. OZMO has very specific install instructions that allow you to mimic the torque of the OEM units while accommodating the use of anti-seize on the threads. The A-S they use functions as a dielectric and lubricant, so you have to work out the correct torque settings to ensure accuracy. Don't have that at hand now, but can post later if nobody else posts this first...

Sorry to bring an old thread back but I thought it would be important to document the install torque for future searches.

I put these on last night and after doing the turns of the nut method using antiseize I ended up with 85ft lbs vs the 120 on the OEM ones. I used to torque oem nuts to 110ft lbs last 6 years and many track days, I had the blue cone nuts with the teflon, I know GM later stated 140ft lbs for the silver cone nuts without teflon. 120 ft lbs is good enough as far as my experience and talking with Ozmo they said usually you see around 30% reduction with the anti seize use vs oem torque.

Hence, I ended up doing 90ft lbs at the end so closer to 140 GM spec and not far off my 85 result to match 120, either way higher than what I used to do of 110 on my oem lugs. Hope this helps.
