2SS Mild to Wild npp controller. Waste of money?

So I just bought a used ‘16 2SS M6 with npp exhaust. I had a mild to wild on my C6 Corvette which worked great so I bought one for my 6th gen. However, I just discovered that you can open the valves all the time simply by selecting track mode in engine sound management on the display. Is there any advantage to using the mild to wild over the car’s software to run wide open, or should I return it for a refund?

Well u can build your own remote to control the npp valves for half the cost. I made a post about it a few years ago. Setting the car to track mode though does not make the npp valves stay open. They still close above something like 35mph? Maybe it's sooner than that

It was a complete waste of money on the 5th Gen and even bigger waste on the 6th Gen since it's already integrated. Grand total of 20 bucks would get you the setup on the 5th gen but they sold these for ~80. Worked well on the Corvettes though.

I don't want to just pull the fuse because there are times I will want normal function on the fly.

Could maybe wire in your own switch/relay into the fuse circuit? You wouldn't have the remote functionality, but you could easily get the same effect of pulling the fuse with the flip of a switch for less than half the price of the M2W kit.

OP are you M6 or A8? And would you like to actually start the car in stealth without having to get in it (A8) or having to hold the ignition to put the car in service mode, then put in stealth before cranking?

M6 and yes I would want the normal functionality but have the option to open the valves full time on the fly. I was just wondering if selecting track mode in the engine sound management does the same thing.

Well 2 things M2W or similar controllers can do that NPP programming can't:

1. Even in Track, the valves close under cruise or light throttle. Does it make a big difference, not really but definitely noticeable.
2. There is no simple way to do a quiet start. Like I mentioned, you have to power up everything with Service mode, force Stealth mode, then start the car.

The way my M2W is wired I can simply hit the button to close the valves and remote start it quietly. Coupled with keeping the valves open all the time when you want are really the only things the M2W will do for you. Pricey, yes, worth it? Up to you. I like mine.

The build your own switch I mentioned that's half price makes it easy to start in stealth mode. You just hold the close button on the remote while starting the car. The valves will close right when it starts up.

Hey OP- seems I remember you from C5...

I just installed the Borla 60606 (I've got the manual trans also) and loved the sound and expected to retain functionality of my NPP. In Track mode, if you're on the gas, the valves stay open.

So first morning for a 5am start-up I powered up the computer, ready to move from Track mode to Stealth (which really quieted things down even after modification).

Guess what...? The computer told me you have to have the car running to initiate that change! So the first morning my neighbors got the full effect..! I hope I didn't wake everyone. Prior to the mod, I had always started in Touring, figuring it was the lesser of Sport or Track.

Just a FYI, put it in Stealth before you shut her down. You cannot "power-up" the ECM and do it prn (as needed).

Yes you can, you have to put the car into Service Mode (5 sec hold on Engine Start, not holding the brake). Then it will boot all the modules in the car and you can change the NPP setting.

Yes you probably used to see me over on c5. I had a 2010 Camaro 2SS (Big Red) that I did a lot of modding to!
