Tire wear

Question - is this normal for a tire to expose this dash white line?

5k miles. Only on right rear tire. Yes done a few burns but not many.

What are other's replacing your tires with make wise?

Thanks

Never seen that on a tire, did you drive over a fresh painted white line on a road?

I thought about that too, white paint. Seems so perfectly done to be driving over white paint. Not sure.

Strange.

What pressure do you keep them at?

I had a shiny stripe like that when I had a tire rub on my 5th gen. Just wasn't white. Maybe check for a rub?

Well, it is certainly heartening to hear of someone getting that many miles out of them.

Might want to take it in to check the alignment. At 5k miles uneven tire wear should not be happening unless the alignment is off.

Have you nailed a pot hole hard? That can throw out your alignment.

He probably drives on nice smooth road surfaces most of the time and doesn't let it rip much.

I live near and work in downtown Cleveland.

Potholes are us.

I'll be buying stock in a tire company soon.

Actually, it wouldn't be hard. You could have coated the the tire, then once you drive away from the paint, the road surface will scrub the paint back off of the contact surface leaving just the very edge showing. Fronts will scrub higher onto the sidewall when you turn.

The real question: do you have paint on your fenders and lower quarters?

I have 5000 miles on my tires and still have plenty of tread to go. I'd say I will get at least 15000 miles out of these tires. I will be happy if I do and I do drive aggressively from time to time.
