Question UK Numberplate holes

UK Guys,

I'm looking at removing the big ole numberplate holder from the front of the G5. However, as we know I will be left with the four holes.

I've mocked up a 300 x 63 plate out of A3 paper to try against the car (best way to tell once plate is removed), but just on the off chance does anyone know the spacing between the 4 holes?

If the 300 x 63 mm plate will fit, then I can remove and fit in one sitting. Otherwise I need to remove, order sticker... wait... and fit in a second sitting.

I've thought about bumper plugs, then I thought about paying to have it done properly... but I DO need a front plate.

After (ignore low quality lettering, it was only to give an idea):

So for £10 it's worth a go to improve the front.

Cheers,

Debating removing my front plate completely Mike; spoils the lines of the cars front fascia. Only thing stopping me is I'm not sure if there'll be any paint damage behind the edges and equally not sure what to do about the remaing holes.... Watching with interest.

I don't run a front plate, makes front of the car look so much better

Ditto. Fill the holes with those little plastic furniture plugs painted yellow. Zoom in to see.

I'm in a minority as I like a front plate, but I'm breaking all my rules about the original look as my car was registered in Florida so never had a front plate from new.

Picture without is taken on original owners drive in Florida. Importer added the bracket. Makes it easy to add a show plate (not got a Florida pair yet)

Have you considered the concealed option? There are manual and electric kits to slide the plate under the front, or there is a clip on option too, Pete has that if I recall.

Painted bungs or pins are used by many, but how about continuing your stripes as on the green picture as you are doing the spoiler, should cover the holes nicely?

I don't think there will be plate damage, but there will be those four holes. I've looked at the plugs you can get, but I'm really not sure they solve the issue (just my opinion). Will remove one niggle I have with the car and replace with a different one. Of course I could cough up and get them filled/sprayed but you're talking a couple of hundred quid then at least.

Which ones did you get? Assume you used a touch up pen to colour them?

I think ideally I'd have them filled and a clip on plate added, but I don't have that option.

John - Not sure I'm gonna black the lower spoiler, and I quite like the stripes the way they are. I'll see what this plate sticker is like, once I've checked it'll cover the holes.

LIKE YOU GET ON IKEA FURNITURE. DAB OF SUPERGLUE TO HOLD THEM TIGHT TO BUMPER FACE. YES TOUCH UP PEN. GOT A BAG FULL IF YOU WANT SOME.

STRIPES WOULDN'T WORK FOR ME BECAUSE OF THE SHAPE OF THOSE ON THE BONNET.
Pickie below

Don't want a fold away one - just prefer not to have one.

I use an eliminator plate - at car shows or a track day it pops off by pressing the spring clips - pop it in the trunk. Pop back on later...

Not so sure about stripes down to the front bib - that’s a Ford thing, original Camaro SS was hood only I believe.
