when to get an alignment?

My Camaro pulls to the right. A little bit, kinda, not bad, but sorta.

Is there a rule of them, as to when the car should be brought in for alignment.

I mean, if I say it pulls to the right a little bit but not too bad, that doesn't tell anyone anything.

What about if you let go of the wheel, driving 60mph and have to make an adjustment before driving hands free for 3 seconds, or X amount of time, it needs to be done.

anyone help ?

What suspension upgrades have you done or if any?

If it's pulling, then your alignment is off and I would get it checked out.

First be sure you're driving on a flat road. Any car will pull to the right slightly if the road has a substantial crown.

Check tires for pressure and wear first. If all is good, get the alignment. If you had any plans for lowering, I would do it first and then do alignment.

I get mine aligned every 10k miles or so, always before you can tell it is out of alignment.

A typical alignment costs between $80-$100. If you're that worried, go get it checked out.

It's not really a regular maintenance item. Only as things start wearing with lots and lots of mileage (an alignment won't fix that, but the wheels can become out of alignment with worn suspension components), or if you change the configuration of the suspension, or the vehicle has sustained some kind of damage - then you need an alignment.

Your tires will tell you if you Need aligned. Uneven wear is a sure sign....proper inflation and rotation is key...unless you've hit something hard odds are your fine..

Quality of local roads has a lot to do with the frequency this needs to be done. The amount of pot holes where I live and frost heaving from this brutal winter will accelerate that need.

The faster you go the more pot holes you jump over.

[fwiw a lot of winter miles this year and alignment still seems fine]

I'd get a cheap tire depth gauge that reads 32nds and monitor all your tire depths across the width (outer, center, inner). if the outer depths are similar, alignment should be good. if the center is substantially higher, raise pressure. if center is substantially lower, lower pressure.

the goal is to have even wear... this is a great way to determine the proper pressure or if you have any alignment issues.

if you're getting even tire wear and it's only slightly off, I wouldn't be too worried. like others said, each road is different and won't always be perfect.

Firestone is one of the few places that have lifetime alignments. Get it aligned twice and it pays for itself.

FYI, in VA, every county or most, will reimburse you if you damage your car because of a pothole. check your local state county law about that. i might go get the alignment done if necessary and contact my county for the money back. and for your question.
