heat problems
hello
do you have also problems with the heat of the zl1 when you drive 5-10 min or more at really power? for example appropriate road or highway. my oil temperatur goes then really quick to 250 or higher, is that normal or not good? what do you do against? thank you |

Idk about oil temp. But your water or engine temp shouldn't go above 210.

As long as you maintain an oil temp below 138*C, you'll be fine. My LS3 runs up around 121*C regularly. Bottom line: if you're not in the red, you're in normal parameters.

LOL...I used Celcius thinking it was for OP's benefit. Thanks for converting.
My range runs about 210*F at operating temp, and 280*F on a hot summer day running hard.

But are this temps critical or how is that? Have you make something against?
Because i had the same problem at my ss before... but never seen these ptoblems at an other car! That feels not good and safety |

These temps are normal. Remember, these cars have aluminum engines, and transfer heat differently. Aluminum engines tend to run a bit hotter, but it is normal.

...observation...engine coolant temp warms up quickly, irregardless of outside temps..., it's real fast. It takes alot longer for the engine oil to reach operating temperature. And that is without pushing it hard.

If the oil temp reaches 300 you need to back off the car until it cools down. I have seen the oil at 300 and that happens before the water overheats on the ZL1. You can buy and have any auxiliary oil cooler installed if you are running the car hard for extended periods of time.
