That SUCKS! Yeah tell me about it... My fenders are not color matched with the car... kinda blows...

I'm planning on repainting the whole car so everything can be the same color with no orange peel when I'm done with all my mods.

GM has always claimed it as "signature" paint jobs. They know if it is theirs or not......

It's not just GM and not just Camaros. The granola eaters and their CAFE standards prohibit the use of real paint.

I have fisheyes, dirt under the paint, paint runs, clearcoat runs .. you name it I have it .. This is the worst factory paint job I have ever had on any car I have ever owned ... GM Won't touch her though .. I'll get it fixed privately down the road at some point in time ..

What am I lookin at here?

Either way, I'm not a fan of the new paint either..... Stupid waterbased stuff chips easily and doesn't take wax very well ಠ_ಠ

What does water based have to do with anything? Only the color is water based, not the clear coat. And fyi, Ferrari's and Lambo's also have water based paint and they don't have these kind of issues so it's not a paint issue.

For a point of reference, my paint is fine. I have no fish eyes, no blemishes under the clear, no runs or even orange peel. No issues except for the fact that bird shit left for longer than 30 minutes, or hard water form a sprinkler will permanently damage the clear coat.

I just don't want any future Camaro owners thinking all Camaros have bad paint. And no, it has nothing to do with water based paint. If it did, mine would be lousy as well. I suspect a weak quality control process around the paint area of the assembly line that affected some units. Maybe employees getting lit up on their lunch hours...oh wait, that was Chrysler.

Probably, the cars with issues were repainted (poorly) due to a mishap on the assembly line (explains the mis-matched panels, non-sterile paint booth, not waiting for the paint to cure, etc )

If you buy the new car, doesn't everyone inspect it in the sunlight before buying. I know I did.

EDIT: Actually I do have "orange peel". Its uniform, but its there. I guess I just never noticed before.
