you have to be f***ing kidding me... So does California also not allow race only cars to be sold to people?

That would piss the s*** out of me if I lived in Cali and wanted a Boss Mustang. I hope other states don't follow suit.

Wasn't the California Edition Corvette the weakest ever made in history? That pretty much describes most everything about CARB, weaksauce...

Actually Ford has not released the Trac Key AT ALL because CARB won't certify it. 13 states follow CARB guidelines, so at this point you just straight out can't get it anywhere.

Thats why the rollout has been delayed. Ford could either make it 49 state legal or continue fighting it. To be honest, they probably need the Cali market to make it viable. Funny how a car named after a famous track, Mazda Raceway (Leguna Seca) isnt even legal to race their as it was intended by Ford.

Interesting. I'd be interested in seeing an emission test comparison between the normal key and track key. If the track key results fail 2012 standards, why would Ford even offer it?
Does anyone know if there is an "off road use only" disclaimer on the track key? This should be sufficient enough to issue the keys to owners in any state. My point is....aftermarket headers for Camaros have this disclaimer but they are still sold to California residents. Who knows if the headers will be installed on a track car or street car? Same goes with the track key.
I remember seeing a Boss 302 in Tucson a couple weeks ago. I'd like to ask the owner if they have the track key.

If the track key increases emissions, it's illegal in Ca. Track keys won't be issued an EO number if they increase emissions even if the emissions fall under 2012 emissions limits.
Headers sold in Ca will need an Executive Order CARB number to be legal. A Ca smog check will spot the headers without the EO certification. I understand Ca smog checks are not required for the first five years on new cars.
More here.

Track Key

Without a key, wouldn't it be in full track mode at all times by default???
