Traction Control - is it working?

I was on wet roads the other night traveling around 10 mph when I quickly accelerated. There was a lot of wheel spin and the rear of the car moved about 2 feet sideways before I let off of the accelerator. I never felt the traction control kick in but it happened so quickly that I'm not sure if there was enough time for it to work. Does anyone know if the traction control should have prevented this from happening or was there not enough time for it to start working?

traction control is definitely working. try to do a burnout with it on...

But seriously, If you give these cars too much gas on a turn they will fishtail a bit, but I am assuming the traction control kicks in before you start spining in circles. I have fishtailed quite a bit a couple times, but never once felt out of control. I thank the traction control for that

You have a 400+HP car and its back tires really can push a lot harder than the front wants to move. Your car probably moved 2ft sideways in well under a second, it takes a little bit for the power to get cut @ the wheels.

Thanks for your responses. As soon as my 1500 mile breakin period is up, I'll do a few burnouts to get a better understanding of how the system works.
