Winter car transformation with Plasti Dip

Bought this for $1800 with 110,000 miles and a 5 speed slush box! For some reason I HATE green cars so I decided to try out plasti dip for the first time. Took me 2-3 days and about 18 cans. Perfect winter beater to keep stress off the SS.

Awesome, how much do you have in plasti-dip and whatever other materials you used for the transformation, if you don't mind my asking.

Looks great. I love Plasti dip!!!! and all the vids from the dipyourcar channel. Theres even a lot of plastidip painters on craigslist now that will dip your car and have shop space to do it.

I just dipped the chrome bumper insert on my Ram 3500 and plan on doing the emblems next week. I also want to dip my first gen Monte Carlo once I can have a body man weld in some patch panels on my quarters.

Lots and you can even tint them to make a custom color, gloss or metallic.

It was just under 20 cans so lets average that to 20, it was like $5.xx a can so lets say $6 with tax. 6x20 = $120 for the dip at Home Depot. Then painter's tape, I needed 1.5 rolls considering its an entire car, so I'll round that to 10. Then I bought 5 cans of Rustoleum "paint and primer in a can" "Carbon Mist" which is a metallic dark gun metal sort of color for like $6 a can. Used 1.5 on the rims and 3.5 on the roof. I also bought one can of flat $5 and some roof grill sheet $3 to make the front grille.

So add all that up and I got a new two tone paint job, black rims, and a black front grille for about $180 + my labor. I probably could have saved at least 25% buying the dip in bulk but I wanted to just get it done quick and get the car on the road. You can barely enjoy a SS up here around this time of the year. It takes FOREVER to warm up at 40 degrees and I get no traction 1-3 gear so you can't even have fun speeding up on highway entrances and such. Not to mention gentle driving is giving me 10 MPG and its slowly getting colder everyday.

Thanks dude! It even surprised me a bit. Plasti Dip is truly a great product.

That sounds awesome dude post pics! The only pain in the ass thing about this stuff is that it runs very easily and you need at least 4-5 solid coats. Each door needed 1.75 cans at least.

They have pretty much anything you want. I think they may even offer gloss now which is VERY interesting. I'd have to see that in person.

Not bad. My DD is all beat up with scratches, faded paint, dents etc. I would love to do this to my car, but I don't want to waste the $ lol.

It looks much better after the dip. I'm definitely a firm believe in plastidip. All my emblems are dipped and I have a couple cans coming in next week for the wheels.

What's going on with the fog light though?
