Snow White Valves/Pistons/Spark Plugs need help??

I'm doing a cam/ls3 swap/ported heads, and when we lifted the heads we found this. the mechanic said it has been running too lean. Let me know your thoughts/ experience with this.
thanks

judging by all the deposit build up, it does'nt look too lean. one of c5's engineers will be getting in touch soon..but the intake valve normally is a little cleaner than exh, if it was too lean for a period of time, the valve would likely be burnt as would the plug. now this will get shot down within 5 posts

In the pics it's hard to tell but the pistons are white like the valves and they have black on then as well but mostly white. The plugs are all white like the valves.
