Mustang mentality

Yesterday I was driving down the street in my Camaro. Off in the distance, coming from the opposite direction, I see what I thought was a red Camaro. I throw a cool wave out the window. As the the car gets closer I realize it's not a Camaro but a newer Mustang. Oh c'mon you know that pony thing looks like a bowtie in the front from far away. I'm thinking ' oh well at least it's a cool car.' So this young angry looking certain ethnic guy driving the Mustang gives me the finger like he really meant it. Like he wanted to fight me if we were standing still. It took me by surprise and I was initially a little disturbed. Then I realized he was probably just jealous. What a douche.

You gotta have your target identified before "throwing a cool wave". You got the middle finger because you suck in the eyes of the Mustang driver. Since the Mustang was red, the driver might have been a gang member.
Lesson learned.

that's not a "mustang" mentality. just fanboy mentality. every brand of everything has them. I've mentioned it here before. some people, yes specifically here, act like they're being sponsored or something by the oem. like if Chevy or a certain dealership is paying you to drive the car or advertise it. its one thing to very much enjoy what you own and drive but some of you guys just take it to a completely different level. "chevy/ford/dodge etc rules EVERYTHING!! lemme get a sticker on my windshield of calvin peeing on the other brands logo!... also. lemme drive around with the dealer branding so everyone knows where I bought my car from.."

I don't know, from all the endless "someone called my car a mustang" hate threads here I'd say it's the camaro owner with the issues. for people who own camaro's, a lot sure seem to be unable to get over the mustang.

Not sure about the red car thing...its a sad commentary, but around here anyway, you just gotta be aware of your "environment"... A mis-interpreted hand gesture, inappropriate eye contact, even a hi-beam flash could cost you your life!...lol

Once you've waved, you can never take it back. If he had stopped to yell at you you could have told him you waved because you thought he was your kid sister. After all, he is driving a mustang...

Just last week I passed a hot rod 1936 Ford pickup. I slowed down, lowerd window, gave thumbs up. He did the same. Respect.
Last week paused at a parking lot exit to enter a busy road. Gave way to a guy in a motorized wheelchair on the sidewalk. He gave me a thumbs up and I did the same for him. Respect.
Suggest you just be the better person, the more respectful and mature person when driving your Camaro.

10 - 1 odds he probably thought you gave him the finger. Let's be honest...how many times does a Camaro give a wave to a Mustang? IF we are being honest, never.

I know I got plenty of inappropriate gestures from Camaro owners in my Cobra for no reason..but only 5th gen owners for some reason.

Quick story since we are talking mentality:

Few months back, I'm stopped sitting at a red light in the left turn lane. Convertible top down on a Saturday, just chilling. This black SS (5th gen that's all I know) with a bald guy and his g/f or wife or whoever turns to go past me the opposite direction. Dude looks at me..and right as he goes by he glares at me and revs it. Total douchebag. Obviously it had muffler swaps or some sort of Flowmasters on it. Ok..WTF. I'm stuck in a turn lane. So I see him turn into a gas station and decide ok, if that's how it is so be it....waited for the light to turn, made my left turn and pulled into the same gas station.

That's when things got really funny...I pulled up to the opposite side of the same pump he was at. I got out, just pumped gas like normal. And the guy was whispering to his girl, "Is that the same Cobra from the light?" and I hear her say "Yes". I keep waiting for him to say something, but of course now that I'm not stuck in traffic on the other side of a median he has nothing to say.

So I get back in my car and kinda sit and wait for him to start up his SS. He cranks it up and as soon as he does I fire up my Cobra. I should explain, I had straight pipes going into Flowmaster single chamber race mufflers. I couldn't even hear his car for mine. So I smile and peg the gas pedal one time...absolutely deafening under the gas station covered area. I roll out and see that Mr. I-Wish-You-Would-Try-Me-With-Your-Mustang has decided to take a different exit and go away.

Moral of the story: Camaro + Mustang = Always a problem. I think the dislike is just as strong on both sides of the fence, and I really don't think the OP did anything wrong..but I can definitely see how someone in a Mustang would think they did, and vice versa.
