5th gen also suffered from 1 and 2. They sold like hot cakes. But the 5th gen had the "cool" factor like the Challenger has now. So people were likely to overlook it.

Plus the market has shifted since the 5th gen. So the practicality aspect probably has become a bigger factor as well.
