I don't believe Tesla is going to be around for very much longer.

From the get-go, they only envisioned themselves as a specialty parts supplier for EVs from other manufacturers. Then big companies like GM went and took everything in-house. Since then, they've tried their hand at producing their own vehicles. And the whole while, the company has been favorited by gov't assistance. Otherwise, it probably would have never gotten off the ground.

They have no mainstream vehicles...their three current vehicles are the S (big sedan), X (small-ish crossover), and the III. The first two are $75k, and $80k for base models. And the III is facing such tough production issues, their website even suggests you can order one for delivery in 18 months!

Now they're R&D'ing this new truck, which features about half the range of modern Semi's at twice the price...and the roadster...another niche vehicle.

By the time any of that actually gets out the door, GM's going to have half of the "20 EV vehicles by 2023" out, and who know what the other big-box manufacturers will have.

Nah - I really like what Tesla has done in principle for the Industry and public awareness...but they're not going to replace any car companies anytime, soon.
