You can do it that way.. Just keep in mind how light works.
If you have a dark color painted on the back of the panel, and try to paint a light color on the front, youll see your color, but it will appear darker as less light will pass through it. If you want pure "Color" your going to have to strip the paint off the inside first. Thats why any time to paint a color that you want to "Pop", you put a bright base coat beneath it. Just something to consider.
