Springfield (SIG also)still makes a fine 1911... let loose of a couple hundred extra and get a keeper, over a lesser pistol, that will be hit/miss on QC.
.45 is a sweet round, not a lot of muzzle jump even from a short barrel. I've shot 4"bbl composite guns in 9mm and .40 that jumped more. Steel frame adds weight but makes for a well behaved short barrel pistol.
Have you been shooting that .338? I was expecting pics..... a year ago
