When I have seen issues like this in the past, it can be a number of things.

Your cam position sensor is a magnetic pickup. So if there is a abnormal amount of metal in the oil, it will collect on the cam position or crank position sensors and block their "view" of the wheel. If the crank sensor is blocked, the car will not run. If the cam sensor gets bad enough it will be hard to start but the car will still run.

My suggestion first is to not drive the car until you can get to the front cover and pull the sensor out. Check to see if it has metal on it, or if it has had contact with something.

The other thing that can happen is the cam gear can come loose, and that will walk forward hitting the sensor. If that is the case, then you need to fix it, and do not drive or start it, until it is finished.
