Our new GREEN Cats are more expensive because of what is inside. These cats contain as much or not more platinum and palladium than the OEM cats. Most aftermarket cats are made up of cerium, but to obtain the EPA number the GREEN cats contain the more expensive platinum and palladium. We are the only manufacturer that offers both an EPA certification and the hi-flow characteristics from the same cat.
Just to give you an idea of pricing, platinum is currently trading around $2000.00 an ounce. In every Kg of honeycomb which is the filter you find on average 1.5g of platinum (Pt), 0.5g of palladium (Pd) and 0.1 rhodium (Rh). Regarding the ounce the international ounce weight is 31.1g but the US ounce weight is 28g.
As far as a price drop, unless the price of precious materials starts to go down, we can not.
