I wasn't talking about current events as in what's currently or recently on TV or in the news. I'm talking about events up to within the last 5 years when most of the kids in high school probably weren't paying attention to the TV or news outside of cartoons.
Most high school history courses barely make it past the civil rights movement, if they're lucky. And even then, the majority of the courses gloss over a LOT of stuff.
When's the last time you heard about a high school history course teaching kids about the Battle of Mogadishu or any of the events leading up to it?
