I have seen a car at SMEA and all i remember of that car is no fuss box and no ABS under the hood, it looked so good.

Same reasons some redo the wiring in the engine bay to hide all the ugly rats nest.
Why for me is to clean up the engine bay, the less under the hood the better. I rather open my hood and see motor not wires and covers.
