Wise words, that's what I'll do if the engine ever gets opened up again (she is currently on 12686434, the latest GM oil pump that I know of).
Zach @ Katech said the repro required more and more stress with newer revisions, but eventually all GM pump revisions failed as they are essentially the same design with minor variations, whereas their pump is a ground-up solution. He is obviously a Katech employee, so there's that, but his info has always been trustworthy over time.
