Good on you for getting ahead of it a bit.
The best attitude to have here is to look at the MT as being just the way some cars are driven. It's not particularly harder, just different.
My wife and I are both in our 70's and haven't owned a car with automatic since the early 1970s . . . family sedans and all. MTs really are that easy to live with, and not all that hard to make up your mind to do so.
